Profile

Lucy’s paintings capture the essence of movement and light found on the stunning Jurassic Coast where she lives.  Her painting style dances between expressionism and naive art capturing the joy of coastal life.

After achieving a distinction in Fine Art at foundation level  Lucy  went on to graduate with a top BA Hons degree from London’s Westminster University in 2002, and since then her reputation as an artist has grown rapidly.  Lucy’s work is shown in galleries throughout the UK from London to St Ives, and she has received private commissions from around the world.

Lucy has been an exhibitor at The Chelsea Flower Show, and as part of the BBCs Arthouse Collection, much of her work has been selected for film and TV.

Lucy’s uplifting painting style is created with great subtlety and skill, blending delicate shades of the ocean across her canvas. Her play on light, combined with her signature iridescence and texture, evokes shifting effects to the viewer.

Lucy loves nothing more than walking along the Dorset coast with her dog Matilda, drawing her inspiration from the magical and dramatic seasonal changes of the stunning coastal landscape where she lives and paints.

“My day begins with an early morning walk or run with my dog, Matilda, along the beach. Come rain or shine I’m there, I find nothing more inspirational than seeing the sun burst through after a downpour of rain. The light cascades in a rhythmic sparkle across the ground and the ocean gleams like liquid silver. It’s magical!  I want people to feel uplifted by my paintings and be able to imagine themselves there, in that scene, if only for a moment.  Once refreshed I return to my studio ready to pour my energy into a canvas”
