Professional
Artist Lucy Young's expressionist paintings capture the essence of the
coastal landscape, like the ocean her paintings flow across the canvas
with subtle use of opalescent tones.
"I would like people to feel a fresh tranquility
when they look at my paintings and put themselves there just for a moment.
"
Lucy's reputation has gone from strength to strength with her painting
selling at galleries and art shows nationwide. Recognised for her clever
use of texture and iridescence within her semi-abstract images of Britain's
rugged coastline. Her painterly landscapes evoke shifting effects of light
over surfaces, in particular stone and sea. The paint is applied in an
assured and confident manner with great subtlety and skill often incorporating
an added magic of genuine gold leaf.
Inspiration
is drawn from dramatic changes within the coastal landscape through
out the year, from frosty glistening scenes of Lyme bay to fresh spring
mornings in the countryside.
"I am passionate about my surrounding and take full
opportunity to walk the stunning British coastal paths all year round
with my little dog Delilah. There is nothing more inspirational than
seeing the sun come through after a downpour of rain. Like magic the
light cascades a rhythmic sparkle across the ground".
